Skin Cancer

Reconstructive Surgery

Skin Cancer Reconstruction

Here are just a few cases demonstrating the role that plastic surgery plays in dealing with complex defects associated with skin cancer excisions. These defects can range from small defects to very large defects. Additionally, they are often in places that are difficult to address or are extremely visible. You can clearly see residual deformities after many of these patients completely heal. Our realistic goal is to minimize the defect and deformity as much as possible. As with most reconstructive surgery, our goal is to re-establish function of the "body part" which usually follows that of the form. Again Quoting a famous plastic surgeon from the sixteenth century:

“We restore, rebuild, and make whole those parts which nature hath given, but which fortune has taken away. Not so much that it may delight the eye, but that it might buoy up the spirit, and help the mind of the afflicted.” G. Tagliacozzi
